Hi. After shutting off the hot water to replace a tap in the kitchen, i turned the hot water back on and my pump (wilogold 50)seems to be running very hot to the touch. Ive shut it down for now as i'm pretty sure it will damage it to carry on using it. Can anyone confirm what the normal external operating temperature should be? cheers

Check that the pump is actually turning. Open screw end to inspect shaft. Is it free or jammed?

It depends how hot your boiler thermostat is set, but a temperature of 70 ish wouldn't be far out...about the same as your rads.

Normally if the pump is turning then you can just about keep hold of the pump head body.

If its stuck then it is far too hot to touch.

The Wilo is a VERY reliable pump from an electrical point of view!

What sort od system do you have combi, hot water cylinder, ?

What is the pump installed in - the heating circuit or domestic hot water circuit?
