Ive recently knocked a wall down and moved the light switch to another wall before i plaster.
My problem is that the old light switch was a \\\"old\\\" brown coloured bit where you put the wires, where as the new switch is a wickes new one and it has more terminals on.
This lightswitch is for a light in my passage down stairs and light at the top of the stairs on the landing.I have 3 seperate cables but im unsure which goes where.
Any help would be appreciated.

there are many different ways of wiring 2-way lighting circuits. I suggest you take a look in "for reference" as there are many helpful diagrams in there.
alternatively if you cannot find a solution, a picture paints a thousand words, as Dave9 illustrated here. There is no one way of wiring 2-way switching, as every install has unique characteristics which make running different cables easier or harder. Dave9's was one i hadn't seen myself before. If you can post a picture of the wiring, clearly, and the switch, we might be able to help. |
