Just finished sorting out the annoying creaks and groans from our stairs.
Im now in the process of re-applying the gripper rods to take a new fitted carpet.
My question is, In order to reduce waste and to save money how do i measure up for a stair carpet.

measure the stairs [width +tread+risersx how many]

measure any winders [triangular steps]these normaly need the max width
measure landings and hallway ect to be carpeted with the same carpet
note the ralation between each component [this ones at right angles to this ect] and take to the carpet shop

or find out what width the carpet comes in and plan the components accordingly[scaled down templates will help]

plan for joints to be on the risers or under door threshold strips
allow about 4" overlap for a joints on stairs

you can only bend the carpet in one direction "accross the weave"
it will "not" bend the other way

Many Thanks Big...

Much as i thought however i overlooked the small bit that tucks under the stair nose,

Measured up and off to mr Carpet. thanks again
