I have a garage with a concrete sub-floor, would good quality ceramic floor tiles withstand the weight of an average size car on a daily basis. :?:

If correctly fitted then yes they will. However, I wouldn't recommend that you use tiles for a garage floor. Tiles can chip. Any stones that are stuck in the tread of your tyres could chip the tile surface. I reckon they'd look pretty shabby pretty quickly.
If you insist on tiling the floor, use porcelain tiles because they are much tougher and resistant to chipping. They are much more expensive and are harder to cut though.
