I have just had a chimney extractor fitted to an interior wall so it\\\'s of the recirculation type. As our ceiling is low the installer said there was no room for the telescopic section (the bit with the air vents on). Where does the cleaned air go? Is this safe? Hope someone can advise.

The vents are usually in the side at the bottom of the bottom section of the chimney, and the extention piece just there for aesthetic reasons.

Here's the photo:

There's definitely no outward vents although the air does seem to 'leak' from the joint (less than 1mm) between the chimney and wall.

Thanks for your replies.

The air goes nowhere @ the moment icon_cry.gif The holed bit should be fitted whatever happens to the other bit ...it probably needs modifying .....sounds like a job for Citizens Advice ....Sale of goods, fit for purpose etc. Allegedly icon_wink.gif
