Please can you tell me how thick the layer of gravel should be on a flat roof. The layer on my flat roof appears to be holding in the moisture and I am wondering if it is too thick.

The gravel on a flat roof should be no more than a single covering ie: just enough for you not to be able to see the felt or bitumen. The gravel is there to stop the sun getting to the roof covering and cracking it or melting the tar etc.But by the fact that a flat roof is what it says ,,flat,, then it will always hold some water , gravel or not.
