Help! Have just spent £40 getting a cream rug dry cleaned,to try and remove a red wine stain, it didn\\\'t work, so they did it again, still not good. Have tried biological washing powder, but that\\\'s made the stain appear darker!!!!! icon_cry.gif

I fear it will have been cooked in by now if they put it through the standard cleaning process. Rather poor of them, the better dry cleaning companies (the big chains or specialists) have specialist people to take out odd stains, and are usually very good.

I once dropped a 5l can of emulsion and it splashed over my best suit, Sketchleys got it like new (you have to take it in quick).

Do you think you can claim on your insurance?

As as been said the stain has now set. I spilt red wine recently on my new beige carpet, I panicked & thought oh f*** it, but I acted quickly keept it moist whilst I sought more advice & saved the day & the carpet.

Thanks for the replies. I did get it cleaned by Sketchely's, even though they kept it 6 weeks on both occasions!!
No point claiming on the insurance, the excess is more than the rug!! Looks like this rug will be confined to a bedroom???

Maybe it will fade, eventually, if you leave it in front of the window.

As it is spoiled now, you might try a little Hydrogen Peroxide (as used by Suicide Blondes)

if you drink red wine, and are wary of spilling it on rugs clothes etc, buy a bottle of white.
if you spill red wine, mop it up with kitchen roll, and immediately pour the white wine over it, it will lift the red stain. icon_biggrin.gif
