jpg files have turned into .jpg.exn files?!

I have just tried to open some photos downloaded from my Minolta Dimage E323 camera. When I tried, the Microsoft Photo Editor and Windows Picture and Fax Viewer programs can't open them. Then I realised that they seem to have this new file extension on the end of them! This has only happened to one file of photos and not any of my other files.

These photos I am having problems with have been on my computer for a few years, when I hold my cursor over a file (as if I wanted to view a particular photo) a dialogue box says the file has been modified on the 05/05/06, except none of them have!!

Does anybody know if I can retrieve my photos and what on earth has happened?

You can try & change the extension to .jpg

tried that, the applications won't recognise the file!

Have you recently installed any new photo or picture software, this can change some image formats, if so, you can easily change this by right clicking the image, selecting properties, click change. You then need to select a programe that you want the image to open in

I've tried doing that, but the applicatins still don't recognise the file type. All seems a bit strange.
