Help please. I have replaced my ford KA's bog standard stereo with an all singing all dancing sony from my other car. Though every time the KA engine os turned off it cuts power to the stereo, loosing all settings and requiring the code every time the car is switched on again. Any idea on how to maintain the power connection???

Dont car stereo's have internal memory batteries a bit like what you have inside a PC?

If the new stereo has 2 power leads (yellow and red), check they are not both connected together to the IGN output from the car. IIRC, red goes to +12V, yellow to IGN.
IGN is powered when the ignition is on.
+12V is on all the time.
(most stereos have the facility to connect yellow and red together, in case the car doesn't have a IGN output to switch the relay in the stereo)
