painting plaster wall

I had an partition wall installed with the plasterbroad about 5 years ago by builders and they painted with yellow emulsion. When I try to paint over it with the same colour emullsion. The layer of the old paint come off. How can I repaint it that the old paint will not come off.

What type & make is the original yellow emulsion ? What type & make is the old yellow emulsion ? Was the plasterboard ames taped or plastered ?

Try using a brush...you wont have the sucking and lifting effect of a roller
