Hi my oven has recently stopped working and I'm relunctant to call out an engineer unless I can repair it myself! Its a 15 year old gas oven where the oven is automatically ignited once the gas knob is turned on and the starter begins clicking. At the moment when you turn the knob there is the usual clicking noise of the ignition device but no gas is being emitted hence no flame. I can't smell the gas so its definatelty not coming out. The gas grill works fine, and I've tried cleaning the elements but no luck!

Any idea what this might be? Not sure what brand it is but can check when I get home.

Probably a faulty flame failure device.

These can only be fitted by Corgi registered engineers.

I expect sandwell's right; but, if it has an oven timer, check that it is running and not set to automatic.

I know someone with a gas cooker (how old-fashioned!) and if the power has gone off the oven won't light until the clock is reset.

Thanks guys looks like my only option is to call an engineer or wait until I get a new kitchen and replace the oven anyway! :(
