gravity fed shower help

I am installing a shower mixer gravity fed by a loft tank,I know that it is recomended that the cold suppy should be taken direct from the header tank but for ease of instalation I wish to take the supply from inside the airing cupboard which joins the bathroom wall that I am using.There are two outlets from the tank one to the hot cylinder and the other supplies the bathroom taps and toilet .Which one should I use?

Your upstairs cold supply is tank fed because your particular area must suffer from a poor pressure incoming mains supply. If you are not going to go from the header tank which I would recommend then I would tie in to the cold supply to your cylinder. If you tie in to the cold feed supply to your taps & toilet etc, the already poor pressure will be a hell of a lot poorer whilst the shower is in operation.

Depends on which of those two pipes are likely to be used the most around the house. The supply to the hot is likely to be affected if the washing machine or kitchen tap is used. The supply to the bath and basin is only likely to be used by whoever is in the bathroom. ( unless of course it feed another bathroom or cloakroom ). With this in mind, I would tee of the supply to the bathroom - less chance of being effected by other household members. And remember, the cold supply is the one you dont want to drop whilst showering.

I would most definately recommend getting a thermostatic shower, and equally, tap off from the tanks. It really isnt all that hard, especially if you have the confidence to do the other pipe work.

Just hope that someone doesn`t decide to use the toilet
