Hope somebody can help!
Live in old cottage with open heating system (not sure of age). Some of downstairs radiators have never been that hot and prob. got worse last winter. Did fit two more radiators upstairs - in colder parts of house. Now with all raditors hot upstairs, downstairs remain cold or luke warm. Some improvement when closing upstairs rads. but still not hot.
System has been drained and flushed + rads. bled again and again.
I was considering changing pump next month as this appears old but is definately working (but how effectively?). The only other thing I could think of is the filler tank which is about 7 feet above the pump - will this have any effect?
Thanks for your help

Guess I should change the pump then.

Does it matter about which pump - are there any differences in power?
What about second point - does header height make a difference.

Thanks for advise
