i am replacing an electric cooker with separate electric oven and hob,i have wired the oven to the cooker socket what do i do with the hob,can it be plugged in or do i need an electrician?
Other way round. The hob (as it is an electric, not a Gas hob ) takes a high current so it needs the cooker Switch supply. It cannot be supplied from a plug and socket.
The oven (if it is a typical UK single oven) will take about 10 to 12 amps so can be connected using a 13Amp fused plug to a convenient socket.
If its a double oven, you could wire it from the hob or from the terminal block after the cooker switch.
Im assuming that you are replacing a free standing cooker for a hob & oven
