New Electric cooker

I'm going to be buying an electric cooker. There's a socket thing with a cover over it on the wall behind where the cooker will go. Firstly is it a simple job to connect the cooker and secondly does the new electric cooker come with cable?
Also is it legal to connect it yourself and roughly how much would an electrician charge?

do you mean a cooker control point? has it got a socket outlet on it?

have a look in your fusebox/CU and see if there is a designated circuit for the cooker, by the sounds of it there should be.

yes if you now what your doing or have a basic grasp? do you have anyone who can help you with this if you dont.

does the new electric cooker come with cable?

wouldnt think so

if you really dont know what your doing id get an electrician in, they should be able to give you a qoute over phone.

its sounds like you have the circuit there but just need a cooker point and cable to put in.

Yes, but you should be capable of testing that the circuit is safe to use.

As always, it depends, but expect around £30-40 if it's straightforward.
