Can anyone advise? Have moved into our new house (1910 semi) - the upstairs toilet isn't flushing away solid waste effectively. The flush system seems to be working OK, the cistern is filling up to the right level, but the force of the water doesn't seem to be strong enough to carry waste away.

Any ideas of the cause and remedy?

Thanks

Syphon getting weak ....replace or fit flapvalve instead

Your outlet pipe may be coated with crud. Try with a bucket to see haow it runs away . If it don't = Crude . Must be chipped awy or replace the pipe with plastic - the pipe may be also be of too small a diameter
Otherwise
Replace flushing mechanism
