Full bore Isolators (or lack of one causing noise)

I cannot understand when replacing my isolator valve that the actual hole the water goes through is as big as my japseye.
I live in an area where we are on a shared supply and I would like like to get a fullbore stoptap. Will this eliminate some of the noise that the 15mm pipe that carries the mains water creates when under full flow eg shower.
The inlet into the house is lead and looks like an old imperial fixing as the the 15mm looks like its been welded to fix onto the old inlet pipe.
Ideally I'd like to take advantage of the imperial fixing and run 22mm up to the combi boiler. Would this stop noise of the pressure on the small bore of the 15mm hole (about 7mm in reality)?

If the ball in the ball valve is fully open it will not restrict flow significantly and will not generate noise. I know this may sound counter-intuitive, but take my word for it. If you don't believe me look up fluid dynamics and venturis.

if its not a "full bore" balofix chris it will as the cheapo ones restrict the flow severely
Sorry to disagree after such a long run of general agreement, but the restriction is not severe or even significant at higher pressures. The restriction is like a crude venturi tube which does not cause much resistance. I'll see if I can find a figure for equivalent length of 15mm tube.

mmmmmm

but i have seen some with an apature in the region of 5 to 8mm

and they made a huge racket, change em to peglers and lo quiet as a grave

I am glad the concenus is over, it was begining to scare me

They certainly make a racket if partially closed to restrict flow, but fully open they're OK. So there.
