Just removed a radiator from a system that has an header tank, cwc and copper cylinder. The radiator does not tee off to another. I capped off the rad pipes and filled the system back up. when full there was quite a loud vibrating noise from the cylinder and cw tank.We run off a bit of hot water and the noise stopped The header tank is situated abive the cw tank in the loft space. Does anyone know what caused the noise and will there be any probs regarding circulation with these capped off pipes. Thanks for any advice

open the capped ends slowly till water drips out to bleed any air out.

Though I wouldnt bother, unless you notice any noise from these with the central heating on. In a sealed system unbled passive dead legs(as they are known) will contain air that will create pipe noise due to compression.

If the noise has stopped it was probably just air in the system. If it hasnt escaped up the open vent pipe it will be at the top of a rad or rads - so with CH off bleed all the rads again not forgetting to bled any vents in airing cupboard and on the pump!
