...inspected pump seems ok...
Please give more information on your method of inspection and criteria for concluding that the pump is "ok".

In case it helps, I generally take the view that no component can be classed as OK until all faults are fixed and the whole system is working perfectly. This mode of thinking tends to prevent wrong assumptions being made, wild geese being chased and red herrings being, um, er, well, whatever it is that people do to red herrings.

a. A smoked herring having a reddish color.

b. Something that draws attention away from the central issue.

[From its use to distract hunting dogs from the trail.]

Sorry - this is still equivocal.

Are you saying that you removed the pump to test it and determined that the pump was working correctly?

And are you further saying that when you reinstated the pump that the pump was no longer working correctly?

everything av on forum points to pump.
If so, then, er, surely the pump is faulty, and all other bets are off because you need a new one. Surely?

Is there some reason for you wanting to avoid replacing the pump?

Its good to take it out to check it but you needed to test the torque with the "finger test".

Then on installing it needs to be bled of air and the two valves need to be open ( that may be different from just "opening them" ).

If its too hot to touch then its not pumping water as the fluid medium cools it.

new news changed pump still same, still boiler bubbles away when cuts out seems like water falling back in to boiler any ideas?????.

Are you saying that you tested the the old pump and determined that it was not working correctly?

If so, then how did you test it?

seems to me like the first radiator is getting hot through gravity circulation and you still have a problem with the pumping of the water around the system ie voltage supply to the pump, blockage in the return pipe or an air lock in the system. just a few thoughts that you have probably already checked out.
