Hi all

I have aquired a PS2 that my girlfreinds son was going to bin, I have not tried to switch it on but he says the laser is knackered on it.

Can anyone tell me:

a) If it is likely that the laser is knackered

&

b) Can the lasor be replaced, and is it worth it?

Just seems a shame to chuck the thing away if you ask me, having said that I don't know much about games consoles, give me a monopoly board anyday.

quite possible, more likely that the track it runs on is gunked up, -regrease the track! (the fans pull dust throught the unit especially if its sat on a carpet then it gunks up the grease on the track), or it might just be dust on the laser -all three give the same symptoms

yes, I'm not sure of the price.

PS2s are notorious for laser problems. If you don't fancy disassembling the thing yourself then many independent games shops will service it for you at a reasonable price.
