Look on the internet for your manufactures fire and read the instructions

I asked the corgi guy who disconnected old fire today, he said 13" from the back of the fire to the back wall
Checked the same valor instalation notes as posted below and for the fire I had in mind it states 218mm min depth, I have 420mm which I thought was easy enough.......until he turned up!
