Hi,

I have an up and over garage door that has a spring across the top connected to 2 conical spindals that connect by wires to the door.

The door got knocked out of balance whilst closing it and the only way I could eventually get the door to close was to cut one of wires.

Does anybody have any advice on if it is possible to replace the cable and how easy a job it is to do. It seems a waste to have to replace a whole door when its just 1 cable snapped.

Yes I think so. I have managed to find a site that supplies spares for my garage door and they supply a pair of new cables and the spindles they fit on. Apparently the kit comes with fitting instructions so hopefully I'll be able to repair the door. Kit cost £17.95 delivered.

You can buy from someone called the garage door guru on ebay. you will pay about £9 for a pair of cones and cables and full instructions. Its not a difficult job.
