when doing washing the machine goes through the wash cycle o.k. but when it reaches spin cycle the switch just turns until it reaches the original start point.as anyone got any suggestion as to the problem.

Does the light flash? If it does, count the flashes between pauses. Let us know the result.

sorry sleepyhead i've just double checked ( the missus said it was flashing ) and the light is'nt flashing

Haven't come across this fault before but it sounds like a logic fault. Main pcb and eeprom.

OK, bit of a long shot this one.
These machines are notorious for throwing up wierd faults. There are several things can cause this but the main one is the motor carbon brushes. Even if they look ok and have plenty of wear left they can cause errors.
Not sure how expensive they are but might be worth trying a new set in the motor.
