Installing new W/M drain pipe

Hi I am just in the process of connecting up a new w/m and unsure of whether I need to connect the u-pipe. The w/m sits underneath the drain tray of the sink. I have passed the drain pipe up and over the dividing wall seperating the w/m and the spigot. I have connected the drain pipe to the spigot with a jubilee click. The pipe then goes up and over the side panel, but does not form a u shape, more like a a long arc. The hide of the highest point is basically just underneath the sink, standard height.

I am just a little concerned at starting the washing machine in case it does not drain correctly

As long as the plug or blank end of the spigot are removed you should have no problems with that set up.
