I am installing a free standing bath with a shallow waste trap - this will exit via 40mm pipe and will pick up a basin 1m or so down stream from the bath - both will empty into the waste stack (on one pipe).

I have heard that shallow waste traps should not be directly taken to a stack? how do I get round this - do I install a further p type trap further down the line?

Thanks

Ho long is run to the soil pipe? Shallows trap is fine if it's shortish. Joining waste pipes can give problems with waste backing up into bath though.

Good idea - had brain fade again  .
What may not be obvious is that they stop water backing up into the bath.
