Hi,
We moved into our house last Christmas and the central heating worked fine. However after a while the (closed circuit) water pressure dropped to way below 1 bar and the boiler wouldn't work. We topped up the pressure with the filling valve. However, the screw thread used to do this was very worn and after a while we noticed that we hadn't shut the valve properly and the pressure was extremely (2.8bar+) high.
This resulted in a series of drips to form under the boiler.
Around this time the weather improved and we haven't had the boiler on untill last night. The pressure is now fine (approx 1bar cold) but the drips remain. I turned off the system before going to bed last night and put a bucket under the boiler, this morning there was around 2/3 pints of water in it.
Can anyone give me any advice on how to cure this problem?
Do i need to get an engineer to replace valves etc...?
Can i do it myself?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris

BTW. The hot water has always worked fine.
