My Indesit 1200 WE12 washing machine is showing fault code F9 , help please, is this a DIY fix or is the machine scrap? [5 yars old]
It has for the last 12 months sounded like roller bearings breaKing up but has not got any worse and performance has not suffered so probably unrelated fault.

Maybe I should have also said that it will not start any cycle, it just shows the fault code, could it be the brushes, if so I can do this, but will I also need to clear the fault code before it will work , if so what is the procedure please?

Strange fault to get. It's reporting an incompatible eeprom.
Power off, unplug and plug back on all the connectors to the main pcb.
Do them 1 at a time so you don't mix them up.
As it's an Indesit machine it really could be anything at all causing the problem, checking the carbon brushes wouldn't hurt.
To reset, turn the dial to one of the stop points and switch on, it should abort the current program and reset.
