No something I do often...

I have to get some to alter some overflows.

I know there are different sorts of pipe

Do I have to identify the material in the ones I've got, or will one solvent suit all?

Can I use it for mending other broken plastic things?

Solvent cement isn't usable on all plastics. The most common waste pipe materials are uPVC and ABS - you can solvent-weld either of these.

Some advice of reasonable quality that I came across in a search: http://www.msbuilder.com/diy/df105.shtml

white on whitye , , grey on grey , I remember ....... it was good .. but on different parts , lol,..lol...lol
