hi ,
I just moved home & the boiler has just packed in, there is a pressure gauge on the front cover of the boiler and the needle indicates that it has dropped below 1bar :(
So it appears something has failed.
I have now discovered that there is a flexi hose that when turned on fills some tank and raises the pressure to 4 bar.
But in the mean time there is no CH or HW.
Does any anyone have an idea of what could be wrong?
I do not have any diagrams or instructions with the boiler.

Thanks in advance for any help

hi

yes pilot is working , 250 volts at the pcb , relays are functioning , 250v at pump connection too , but I am not sure if the pumps is running
Is there an easy way to check if the pump is working?

I thought that perhaps i could put an ameter in series??
to see if it draws current.

when i switch to CH i hear something working including something switching , but the gas does not pick up
The same when i switch on the hot water tap.

cheers

Could be the pcb burnt out, have just replaced one with the same problem.

hi,

i think the PCB is ok , as there is power to the TX and relays are operating....there is also power at the pimp motor terminals.

To check the pump is operating take a screwdriver, place the end on the housing of the pump & other end against your ear, you will hear a whirring sound & feel the vibration. You can also undo the large silver nut on face of pump & gently poke in a screwdriver & you will feel the pump turning.

hi

the pump does not sound as though it is running.
When i open the silver nut quite a lot of water comes out??

hmm

The pump circulates the water, you will get water out if you undo the nut, it`s full of water! is it spinning?

not checked it as i did not want to flood the place.....how much water will come out if i take the nut off?

I hope you have reduced the pressure to 1/1.5 bar.
Was it working before? check under the casing to see if all the valves are open ie gas flow and return heat pipes.

hi

i have reduced the pressure to about 1.5 bar.

it was working fine before , the problem started when the pressure dropped to 0bar!
I did not realise that i had to top up the resevoir ....doh
Think this is when it stopped working

The pressure gauge is for the heating circuit which is sealed.
However the hot water will not work on this model if the pressure is low.
Does the boiler come on when u open a hot water outlet?
Does the fan come on and can you hear the ignitor clicking/
P

hi mate

everything seems to work apart from the fact the gas does not ignite
the boiler comes on when i turn on the hot water tap it just does not fire up
I have checked the pump and it is working fine too.
It seems to me that there is no gas getting to the boilerother than the plot light.
Some sort of regulator perhaps?
the fan does come on too.
I think I can hear the igniter clicking ...yes

Stuck solenoid or faulty gas valve, try tapping it gently (gas valve).

It does not have an igniter when the pilot light is running!
