We have just had our main electric fuse box moved by our builders because it was in the way of some building work. My question is - do I need to get a certificate/paper work to say that it has been moved & reconnected properly?

yep You should get an Electrical Installation Certificate http://www.iee.org/Publish/WireRegs/Forms_2004.pdf hope this helps
