Bad Job

UPDATE:

Went back today, stripped the whole lot down again, located the oring in the manifold, pu it all back together again (putting the bypass in the manifold first and not last!!!)

Eventually filled it, and water started ****ing out of the top right connection of the dhw heat exchanger.

Im going back to IT

Whenever you`re feeling down, try reading ;) my posts on breakdowns, you will feel like a genius.

Are you sure the clip is in right?, its not too hard to miss the groove on these. All new washers and o rings with a smear of lsx or silicon grease always as well.

Every clip was in right, but it didnt feel right when I was putting it in, I really had to push on the dhw HE to get it to sit tight against the top right connection, I always knew it'd leak when I filled it

Worcester specialist is going round tomorrow to sort it out

Really feel low...........and useless

don't worry about it star, cdi range is a pita to work on, but if the clip is in right and the correct o ring in there it won't spray out. Cdi's are probably the only boiler I keep every o ring and washer all the time on the van....oh and maybe the highflow 400. If it makes you feel better I charged one the other week but the guage was stuck on zero.....realized when I removed the filling loop to put some more lsx on the o ring.

I guess I feel worse because I was doing the job for a member of the family and feel like ive let them down

I also think Im taking on jobs that are too much for me, when I should really be passing them on

So your the Bas**rd who is putting Leak sealer onto O-rings seals meaning they become a swine to get out again and a swine to clean up inorder to make a seal...............why use leak sealer? The manufacturers dont.

I bet he doesn't put drain offs on his downstairs rads on a solid floor building. Sod the next heating engineer to come along! When we get to it you can be sure they have just had new cream carpet layed throughout, and ask you to take your boots off as you go in the door. Best bet is to shut the door on your way out, mumbling about geting the installer back..........

I work on contract stuff so I am normally the next engineer and have never had a problem, they only need a smear.

They dont need anything.........i smear of silicon to help them go in perhaps but its an o ring seal.........why smother with leak sealer??

Because it does no harm and I don't want to spend time restripping the boiler to fix a leak at the back again. Cdis are rubbish for seals and the only reason I put a thin smear of lsx on is because I have been caught out a couple of times before I used it and none since so now I always use it on these. I just don't have time to run the risk tbh.
You don't NEED to put silicon grease on gas o rings or water hawk on lpg connections, but you do it for that bit of extra surety don't you?
