I had some damp in the living room, because someone had rendered over the damp proof course and the gutter pipe was pointed at the living room external wall (at least I hope these were the problems). I had these two problems fixed about 4 weeks ago, how long will it take the damp to dry out in a centrally heated house in autumn?

Solid wall? It should be dry by this time next year.

You could hire a dehumidifier (not an air conditioner) and run it with the room door and window closed every night or while you are out at work, that will make a big difference.
