Hello everyone

Have checked through the forum for reasons why my Hotpoint First Edition 1200 WM53P model could be making a huge racket on spin and have come up with these possibles

1. Bearings
2. Springs
3. Loose concrete
4. Broken spider.

How difficult is it to replace the bearings or spider on this model?

Not had it out to look at spider, springs or concrete yet but when I press down on the internal drum it does make a clunk. Wouldn't say it moves up and down easily though.

Regards

Yes I did but I distinctly remember my ex replacing the bearings on an old Electrolux many years ago. I can't recall the ins and outs of that repair as it was over 8 years ago now but I don't think it required specialist tools.

What I am looking for is someone who might have had experience of changing the bearings or spider on a Hotpoint First Edition 1200 WM53P to say whether it needs any specialist tools or not to replace the bearings - before I commit to buying in the spares for it.

Why an I bothering? Cost of bearing kit incl. postage £7.50 from ebay.

Cost of replacement machine - same model same source - £100.

I'm not the Imelda Markus of the washing machine world.

Regards

L.
