Hi - i hope this is in the right forum but I am so ignorant about just about everything!

I want to change the 2 worktops in my kitchen. I bought the worktops already. This includes getting a new 1.5 sink fitted in one worktop. In the other worktop there is a fitted gas hob which will need to be (presumably) removed and re-fitted.

I'm assuming that I need a corgi-registered person to do the gas hob, but who else should I ask to do the work? Would a plumber be able to fit the worktops, or do I need a carpenter too? Would I be better off asking a building firm/kitchen fitters to do the work? how long would it take and how much is it likely to cost?

thank you

Hello Katy May,
I have just found this site by chance and came across your question. I am a carpenter by trade and you are quite right in saying that you will need a corgi registered fitter to gas in your hob. Although it should not pose too much of a problem if as you say you already have one installed. You do not say if your work tops are seperate or if they need a joint in them, if they need a joint, ie at right angles, you can purchase joint covers. If you require a flush fitting joint then it will require a carpenter or kitchen fitter with a specialist jig to cut and fit the joint for you. This is the beter option but can cost up to £75 per joint depending where you live. Hope this helps.

Ray - thanks, that's a big help. The joins will be at right angles, so I shall get a cover for them. Cheers
