HELP- Light Pull switch doesnt click!!!!

Help!!! I have just managed to change (?) the light pull switch in the bathroom however in the process everything fell and I am now left with a small spring and I do not know where it goes. My light works thought but it does not stay on!!!

I was so proud of myself for doing it ( badly) that the idea of buying a new one didnt cross my mind!!
