OK, I've just got off the phone with Mark, he has been down and replaced my DHW diaphragm (which had a hole in it) and the microswitch is now activating when the tap opens as expected, BUT , the DHW now overheats as it was doing before.

It comes on when tap opens, runs for 10 seconds, you can hear it starting to boil, then the overheat sensor kicks in and the burner cuts out.....for a couple of seconds....till it cools.... then it starts up again .....etc etc etc

Could there be a blockage somewhere ?
Could the heat exchanger be bunged up ?
Anyone got any ideas / or seen this before ?

Any advice most welcome.

>>check the pump's running and the primary flow switch isn't stuck/wet

then the overheat sensor kicks in and the burner cuts out.....for a couple of seconds....till it cools....

>>really only 2 seconds??

Could there be a blockage somewhere ? YES

Any advice most welcome. >>Surface temperature probe would help...

Check out the other post by paul993 on this subject and you will see who Mark is.

He said "quote":-

"""I'm getting nagged to go and watch IM A CELEBRITY NOW ..... so """

Clearly I was not far out!

I see that there was a "mark" who replaced a diverter part but I am no wiser about just who Mark is ???

There is a lot of useful info about IP addresses though !

Mark is a plumber from just up the road a bit, he read the original thread and came down to fit me a new diaphragm... which did the trick and got the DHW microswitch operating again.

Now I'm back to square one.... the original problem when you open the tap

1:burner ignites
2:10 seconds later you can hear it start "sizzling"
3:burner goes out
4:5-6 seconds delay then go back to 1.

Mark had a suspicion it was a blockage somewhere in the DHW short circuit....possibly in the heat exchanger. He said he'd not seen one do this before, so was gonna get onto halstead and see what they said.

Just wondered if anyone had seen this behaviour before, and what it turned out to be. The CH circuit works fine, and doesn't overheat at all.

been to a couple of halsteads with DHW HE faults recently. Its not uncommon.
however the 'sizzling' suggests the problem could lie in the main HE.

Yeah... I was trying to help olski with his home network, and it sort of ended up taking over the whole thread..... so I started this new one.
