ceiling light

i have disconnected a strip light in the kitchen which is operated by a switch at each end of kitchen.I am replacing it with a 4-bar spotlight.problem is new light has a 3 block connector but i have 9 wires coming out of ceiling.3 grey cables each containing a red a black and a bare wire.i connected all 3 red to live,all 3 black to neutral and 3 bare to earth connection in light.Result:light on all the time and then blew the trip.And now the light in the next room along will not work!HELP!!

This question has been posed, and answered countless times already.

One Q though - when you removed the old ceiling rose, why did you fail to notice that you did not originally have all the wires of each colour connected together?
