ceiling light

i have disconnected a strip light in the kitchen which is operated by a switch at each end of kitchen.I am replacing it with a 4-bar spotlight.problem is new light has a 3 block connector but i have 9 wires coming out of ceiling.3 grey cables each containing a red a black and a bare wire.i connected all 3 red to live,all 3 black to neutral and 3 bare to earth connection in light.Result:light on all the time and then blew the trip.And now the light in the next room along will not work!HELP!! :(

This question has been posed, and answered countless times already.

One Q though - when you removed the old ceiling rose, why did you fail to notice that you did not originally have all the wires of each colour connected together?
