Adding light via dimmer

I need to add a pendant light over a table The nearest source is an adjacent shower supply,(can\\\'t get into roof space)Can I spur off the shower cable via a dimmer switch,if so how is it wired.I could also go back to a wall socket,again how would I wire this via a dimmer? Many thanks,sorry to be thick!
