Following the replacement of a gate valve next to pump and draining off the system (this all worked well) and all back as normal....But however i cannot control the amount of HOT WATER as the cylinder thermostat has no affect on the temp. (set to 45 deg...getting up to 75 deg heat )
I have replaced the stat in an attempt but heat still ignores the setting!!!
p.s. turning the dial still trips it on and off but when left, level rises above setting.
please help

When you click the cylinder stat off, check that the zone valve for the coil closes.

Assuming you have a honeywell diverter or zone valve
Did you hook the actuator head lever on to manual when you worked on the valve? It could just need unhooking.

Yes - this is closing after stat clicks off. Water temperature still creeping up higher than setting. Does adjustments screw inside stat make any difference? Although this had not been touched previously?
Any thoughts???? Thanks

No, if it's clicking, it's probably turning off.
Do you have a 3 port or a 2 port valve on the HW?

Make sure that there is a good contact between the cylinder and stat. How far up the cylinder is the stat?

the top of cylinder will allways be hotter than the temperature at the level of the stat, run the water for a couple of minutes and then check temp, it may be closer to the cyl stat temp (maybe :D ).

You'd only exect 10º or so difference, not 30.
Be aware tha thte motorised valve stays open to HW, so you need to see if the boiler stops firing when the thermostat is satisfied.

Chris I am positioning the stat dial to zero and am still getting the(click off) temp up to 65 deg!....listening to the valve opening and closing at this point seems all normal.
Could there be an INTERMITANT problem with the electric zone valve box with it occasionally NOT opening and closing as it should do during the day?
