Please excuse the total ignorance but is there a proceedure/method for achieving a distressed finnish on painted furniture? I,ve tried lightly 'knocking off' the paint from corners and edges but this usually results in a damaged look!

you can have my 2 and 5 year old 'all exited for christmas' boys if you like. they'll either make your furniture look distressed or end up making you distressed.
 :)

Hi. The way i distress furniture is by painting it with a basecoat first. After this has dried rub a candle over all the edges and areas where there would be normal wear and then put a differant coloured topcoat on and allow to dry. Afterwards go over the whole thing with fine wire wool to remove the waxed areas. Heres a pictures of the finished product.
