I have a sealed system with an Ideal Classic boiler. Quite frequently, but not always, the pump continues to run after the CH & HW is not called for.

When this happens, it is not overrun as the pump just keeps on going and going. I have to fiddle with the switch on the top of the Motorised Valve to make it stop - although even this is not consistently successful.

This switch seems loose and not stable.

Any ideas?

Is there anything I can do (as a non plumber/electrician) until such time as I can get an expert? Is it safe (and dry) to take the cover off and se the problem - ofcouse isolating the power? Or is it just an expert job full stop?
