Hi,

Have a biasi combination boiler. Kept locking out when hot water on. British Gas came and changed DHW, now worse than ever. Water gets very hot despite on low setting and then lockout kicks in. Any ideas? Could it be the thermo??

Cheers

I need to know the model and what you mean by lockout. Do you mean an ignition lockout with a red light or an overheat stat which you push in to reset?

Whichever its not very skillful of the BG man to have no idea of how to fix it. They are very simple boilers.

Try asking for a senior technician or whatever they call them to come tomorrow as they have messed up.

Could well be DHW or either sensor is o/c and not controling temperature.

Or gas valve settings seriously wrong.

But also the stat has a limited number of reset pushes and if you have exceeded about 10-20 it could be tripping below 100 °C. What does the temp gauge show when it trips?

Can also be a weak pump or blockage.

Lots of possibilities which any BG engineer should have been able to find.

All the DIP switches on the PCB should be in the up position!

trips at 60, dhw exchanger has been changed by bg last week, gotten worse since then. had a few bg enginners all of whom said scale on dhw exchanger but changed now, water heating to high temp so don't think scale is the problem.

Should trip at 105°C !!!

You have pushed it too many times and needs to be changed.

However, if the plate HE has been changed the indicated temperature should not exceed 55-60°C on DHW so it should only trip on CH. For the moment turn the CH almost to minimum and the DHW to halfway.
