Zanussi Dishwasher DA6141

Hopefully someone can help. When using programme C the dishwasher sticks until the programme selector dial is clicked round, it will then complete the cycle normally.
I have tried using programme B this works okay, could it be a sticky selector switch? would a squirt of WD40 work

Does the water get hot?

Machines works fine except gets stuck on programme C before the water has heated to the correct temperature, when the programme selector is clicked once the machine will then complete the cycle okay, machines works fine on programme B
