Very unlikely but a bit of info might help us to help you

Thanks Pannierstan, my neighbour has Drugasar Heatwave 803179 wall heater which will not stay lit once the control knob is released. The gas valve appears to be working ok& occasionally it does stay on but only with a tiny flame on the burner. I am fairly sure it is the thermocouple not holding the gas valve open after it warms up & as she has tried without success to get someone to fix it I thought I would first try to find out if the part was sourceable & then providing it does not mean disturbing the gas fittings, fit it.

No they are special thermocouples for these it also sounds like gas valve has gone because if thermocouple is strong enough to hold valve open it would come on high not just low . If memory serves me right these had a themostat on them as well that controlled flame strength was built into the gas valve

Thanks namsag, I won't bother with the thermocouple then, as I have no intention of trying to replace the gas valve.
