How tight

When connecting the tails to the tap how tight should they be done up, the ones I am about to fit have o-rings so if I over tighten them they are likely to become damaged. Is there a rule of thumb to use in this situation?

With o-rings there is no need for a lot of tightening. Hand tight will often be leakfree, but it is usual to give them a gentle 'nip' with a spanner to make sure they don't work loose.
