Whirlpool ADG 954/2 Not switching on

I have just purchased the same dishwasher but it seems dinner plates are too big - they stop the upper water spinner from turning which means lower and upper trays do not get cleaned. We even changed dinner set and still the spinner hits the plates even though they fitted in our previous two dishwashers. Anyone else have this problem? Short of handwashing the dinner plates(!) is there a solution?

Top basket position is adjustable. Either two sets of wheels or adjusters on the side of the top basket.
