broken bath plug

can anyone help my daughter stood on the bath plug when we were draining the bath had to use a knife to pull it back up but it came totally out and now when we put the plug in itdrops straight to the closed position and it doesn\\\'t come back up with the (twiddley bit technical term.) what can i do... help please.... icon_sad.gif icon_sad.gif

This sounds like a pop-up waste, and your daughter might have bent or even broken the mechanism the lifts the plug.

You'd need to get underneath the bath to examine the mechanism and diagnose the problem.
