Whirlpool ADG 993/1AV dishwasher stops mid cycle

At the start it fills up with water then stops untill you press the start button again and it then drains

Is the start light flashing? If so, count the flashes between pauses and let us know.
If not, possibly a fault with the wash pump motor.

When i first looked at it the bottom hose to the main spray head was off and the pan was full of water , i fixed the hose on again this did not cure it.

no lights are flashing
