our built-in gas fireplace has 12x12 inch tile ( type is same as foyer )installed between the oak trim and the fireplace. I do not know the material the tile is mounted to. I would like to remove and replace tile & replace with smaller tiles. Any hints on removing tile? |

Hello,
I've got a similar situation. We bought a home where the previous owner covered a brick fireplace with tiles. He di a mediocre job and I would like to replace it to its original condition. The only advice I cab fibd is to tile over it or have a really big job on my hands!
Isn't there a product for dissolving tile mortar? |

I RECOMMEND FINDING THE NEAREST WALL STUD AND CUTTING THE SHEETROCK. TAKE THE ENTIRE PIECE OUT AND JUST PATCH WITH NEW SHEETROCK. I TOOK HALF OF MINE OUT BEFORE USING THIS METHOD AND IT RIPPED THE SHEETROCK OUT ANYWAY AND JUST MADE A BIG MESS.
GOOD LUCK
