When I flush the toilet in the bathroom a loud humming noise and vibrations from under the floor occur. If I run the taps immediately after flushing, the noise continues but then stops when the tap is turned off or after a few seconds.

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem and how it can be fixed?

Sounds like water hammer and vibration to me,probably solve it by clipping and securing the cold water pipe properly but it will mean going under the floor.

Agree - loose pipes vibrating, need clipping or padding.

If taking up the floor is too discouraging, you could start by fitting a quiet equilibrium valve such as a Torbeck or a Fluidmaster will help. It sounds like you have high pressure (mains, not tank) water supply to the cistern, so if nothing else be sure the valve has a high-pressure one or has the correct reducer.
